How to Get Better at Golf (3 of 3)

In the first 2 videos we talked about playing and practicing more often while enhancing your golf-specific athleticism so that you have the essentials for a high performance golf swing.

Today’s video is about mastering the SECRET OF GOLF by creating CLUBHEAD LAG.

A lot of people think that clubhead lag means that the clubhead is trailing behind hands, but that’s not really what it means.

To create clubhead lag means that you are causing the clubshaft to bend. The reason the clubshaft bends is because the clubhead is resisting the change of direction and velocity as you begin the downswing.

Flexing the clubshaft is essential because during impact the clubhead exerts a force on the ball, but the ball exerts an equal and opposite force on the clubhead.

And if the clubshaft isn’t flexed at impact, it will flex because of impact and that will decelerate the clubhead, ‘softening the blow’ and resulting in less distance.

Causing the clubshaft to flex is all about ‘timing’ and that ‘timing’ is dependent upon you being coordinated throughout your entire body and in all 3 planes of motion.

The Single Leg Touchdown to PNF Carry Away is one of the exercises I use with professional golfers to improve coordination and increase clubhead lag.

Perform 1-3 sets of 12-20 reps on each side.

Not Sure Where to Start?

Hi, I'm Thomas...

I understand what it is like to live with low back pain because I have three bulging discs and osteoarthritis in my low back. I learned how to not only manage my low back pain, but eliminate it almost entirely and without prescription drugs. I can teach you how to do the same.
